A public relations specialist and community leader with an interest in adult education, Thomas L. Cotton (1891-1964) was born in Cumberland, Iowa. He was educated at Mt. Herman School for Boys and Dartmouth College. Cotton began work with the YMCA while at Dartmouth, worked with the Boston Naval YMCA, and in 1917 went to Russian to organize YMCA activities among the armies of the eastern front.
